McAlister’s Deli will celebrate its grand opening at the Old Keene Mill Shopping Center tomorrow (Wednesday), offering vouchers for a year of free tea to the first 50 customers in line for the ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m.
The launch will be preceded by a “Community Heroes Dinner” from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday), with the deli inviting first responders, medical professionals, active military personnel, veterans, teachers and truck drivers to a complimentary, dine-in meal.
“We always envisioned ourselves in Springfield and are so glad we finally found a home,” franchisee McKaye Darling said. “We know McAlister’s Deli will be a great addition to [the] area and can’t wait to share our menu of favorites with everyone.”
McAlister’s West Springfield restaurant, located at 8402 Old Keene Mill Road, will be its 13th in Virginia. Started in 1989 by a Mississippi dentist, the chain can also be found at University Mall near Fairfax City, Worldgate Centre in Herndon and Mount Vernon Plaza in Hybla Valley.
Its menu features six different soups and nearly three dozen different handcrafted sandwiches as well as giant spuds — baked potatoes featuring a variety of different toppings, such as the Black Angus Roast Beef Spud and the Chipotle Chicken & Bacon Spud.
After Wednesday’s festivities, the restaurant will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
