The Fairfax County Police Department will host a ten-week Community Police
Academy (formerly Citizens Police Academy) for individuals who live or work in
Fairfax County.
The Community Police Academy is designed to provide members
of the public with a unique “glimpse behind the badge.” Participants will learn
about the breadth of resources involved in preventing and solving crime and the
daily challenges faced by police officers.
Classes will be held on nine consecutive Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to
10:00 p.m. at various police facilities throughout the county. Graduation will be
held on Saturday, November 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Firearms
Range and Emergency Vehicle Operations Center in Chantilly.
The program is offered free of charge. Applicants are required to live or work in
Fairfax County, must be 18 years of age, and provide their own transportation to
and from training. All classes will be taught in English.
