Senior
Villages are more important than ever as families take a critical look at aging
in place as the safest and securest place for our seniors to live and
thrive. Mount Vernon at Home,
established in 2007, is grassroots, nonprofit organization committed to helping retirement age
neighbors live engaged lifestyles and provide support as needed. They do this by connecting our members to exciting
programs, events and to critical resources needed to maintain and support
vibrant lives as we age.
“We have adapted during the pandemic, pivoting
our programs and services to respond to the crisis, doubling down on member
check ins, and promoting our Village as a safe, secure, and important resource
for our community” says Jan Buchanan, executive director. “Now more than ever,
the care of our seniors in our community is of vital importance, “ she said,
adding, “Communities like ours have come together to support each other in
extraordinary ways during the pandemic and we will continue to adapt and
support as we move forward during these uncertain times.”
The
event will begin with a catered dinner and wine delivered to your door,
prepared by Cedar Knoll Restaurant, known for its farm-fresh foods and
delicious crab cakes. You’ll hear from members,
volunteers and some surprise guests. The
evening will cap off with a select variety of enticing auction items. Door prize giveaways too!
“Area businesses have
always supported our annual Gala, which has been a fixture of this community
for over 10 years,” Buchanan says. This year we have extended the sponsorship
benefits knowing we want to support our businesses for longer than just the
single event,” she added. Packages
include at-event recognition, ongoing media exposure to our membership,
speaking opportunities, and tickets to the September Gala.
More information about the event, including tickets and sponsorships can be found on their website, www.mountvernonathome.org. For any questions please contact Jan Buchanan, Executive Director, at director@mountvernonathome.org or 703-473-2892.
