ECONOMIC OUTLOOK 2023

Explore the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in 2023 at the annual Economic Outlook, presented by Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley, and Walsh PC.

 

This program will feature indepth presentation on the local and national economy along with a look at real estate on the Richmond Highway corridor and Springfield and current Fairfax County economic data. Terry L. Clower is Northern Virginia Chair and professor of public policy in the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. He is also director of Mason's Center for Regional Analysis. Clower has authored or co-authored more than 150 articles, book chapters, and research reports reflecting experience in economic and community development, economic and fiscal impact analysis, transportation, land use planning, housing, and economic forecasting.

 

 

 

 

Chris LeBarton is a Managing Analyst for CoStar Group. In addition to monitoring the greater Washington, D.C. area, he collaborates with a team of analysts covering markets across the country. His analysis appears in market and submarket reports, news stories, client presentations, and third-party content like business journals and panel forums. Chris also coordinates research integration, internal training, and product development. Before joining the firm in 2014, his career included work in the residential, commercial, and private lending fields.  

 

 

 

 

 

Alex Thalacker, Manager, National Business Investment, Finance and Real Estate, with Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, will present an update on Fairfax County economic activity. Alex promotes Fairfax County as a premier business location to companies in the Financial Services, Insurance and Real Estate industries.

The Senior Resources Council are dedicated professionals who provide services for the seniors on our community. 

 

If you provide a service for seniors, join this group that meets online the second Tuesday of each month at noon.  Learn about the many businesses that provide senior services and grow your network.

HIGHWAY CLEANUP

HIGHWAY CLEANUP

Rain or shine the Jeff Todd Way cleanup will happen! The rain is supposed to stop tonight and we are hoping for the best. Come and help and make the work go faster. 

 

It's time to give Jeff Todd Way a good Spring Cleaning and we need your help to pickup trash and beautify this highway.

 

Jeff Todd Way was named after a former Chamber Chairman and the Chamber adoped this road to keep it clean in his memory.

 

Meet at Roy Rogers to get a safety vest and garbage bag. A shuttle bus will take volunteers to Telegraph Road while others will start from Richmond Highway. We will meet in the middle to leave trash for VDOT to pickup.

 

Community service hours are available for students.

Delegate Mark Sickles was elected to the General Assembly in 2004, Delegate Sickles will provide

a special keynote on what the Commonwealth of Virginia is doing to prepare for an aging population.  Delegate Sickles servees on the House Appropriations Committee, the Subcommittee for Health and Human Resources Appropriations. He also serves on the Privileges and Elections Committee, Rules Committee and Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee.

 

 

 

 

Steve Gurney, for more than 25 years, Steve has built a community of senior-serving professional designed to help make connections, share resources, and improve support and services to seniors and their loved ones. He serves or has served on the board of directors for the Grass Roots Organization for the Well-Being of Seniors (GROWS), Alzheimer’s Association, Interages, Business and Aging Task Force, Virginia Intergenerational Task Force, and the Beacon Institute.  He has served as an instructor at several universities and corporate training programs. 

 

 

 

 

Dr.  Susan J. Holland is a primary care physician board with Inova, certified in internal medicine with more than 35 years of clinical experience. She has a special interest and extensive experience in the management of elderly patients. Dr. Holland's goal is to help her patients manage chronic illness in the most productive manner possible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pam Reynolds is a passionate advocate for older adults. She is a Certified Aging Life Care Manager, Certified Professional Gerontologist, and Certified Dementia Practitioner. She has a diverse vocational background that includes assisted living facility and nursing home management, as well as owning a company that helped people age in place at home.  After selling her home care company in 2019, her passion for helping older adults and their caregivers led her into the estate planning and elder law field.

 

 

 

 

 

Nathan Salisbury, is the Director of Network Development at Sunrise Senior Living and supports Sunrise communities throughout Northern Virginia.  He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Virginia Assisted Living Association.

SCHOLARSHIP RECEPTION

 

Meet the 2023 high school seniors receiving the Chamber's Education Partnership Business Scholarships.  

 

Students will be recognized from Edison High School, Hayfield Secondary School, Lake Braddock High School, Lewis High School, Mount Vernon High School, South County High School, West Potomac High School, and West Springfield High School.

 

Since 2000, the Chamber has given more than $273,000 in scholarships to prepare the next generation of business and community leaders. Meet these outstanding young people, their families and other Chamber members on the beautiful outdoor patio of The Fairfax Retirement Community.
